The Blessing of the Pets

St. Timothy’s Annual Blessing of the Pets
Every year we hold an
annual Blessing of the Pets on the first Sunday
in October. This is a community event; all are
welcome to bring your pets (dogs, cats, lizards,
buzzards, etc.) into our Courtyard for this fun
and unique service. (Regardless of the denomination
of your pet, this is open for everyone). The Courtyard
is connected to the church, itself – just
look for the line of pets!
Among St. Francis of Assisi’s
many reputed spiritual gifts was a special empathy
and communion with the animals. It seems appropriate,
then, that we ask for God’s blessing on
our pets on the Sunday closest to his feast (which
falls on October 4 each year). Our next Pet Blessing will be October 3, 2010.
To help keep pet
mayhem to a minimum, please bring your pets in
kennel crates or on leashes.
The blessing of
the pets starts promptly at 10:00 a.m. We look
forward to seeing both you and your furry (or
scaley or feathery) friends!
