The purpose of the Altar Guild is to serve God in His house by preparing the altar for all services for all occasions, polishing and maintaining the brass and silver, cleaning and ironing the linens and vestments and preparing the elements. The Guild provides the appropriate settings for the altar and services in recognition of the rites of the Episcopal Church. This calls for a unique frame of mind and a sense of the way in which the trivial meshes with the divine.
The Altar Guild is a ministry of faithful women and men who serve with reverence, devotion, attention to detail and the ability to work alone. The group gathers to plan the sharing of duties, celebrate our service and enjoy the bond of our mutual interest. The Altar Guild works in teams of three, each of which serves one week per month. Membership in the Altar Guild is open to anyone in the church who is willing to be trained in the proper procedure and wishes to serve our Lord in this quiet, but meaningful way.
