Compline Service

St. Tim’s offers candlelit, chanted Compline services on the second Thursday of the month at 8pm, October–April.

The term “Compline” derives from the Latin completorium—completion of the working day. As the bedtime prayers of the church, Compline tends to be a contemplative experience that emphasizes quietness, reflection, and spiritual peace. In many convents and monasteries, it is customary to begin the “Great Silence” after Compline, during which the whole community, including guests, observes silence throughout the night until the morning service the next day. Our offering of Compline seeks to keep this contemplative spirit.

Our service follows the Order for Compline laid out in the Book of Common Prayer and is chanted by a small schola of singers. We begin and end with silence. The entire service lasts approximately 30 minutes. Congregants are welcome to join in the chanting as noted in the service bulletin or to worship in meditative silence.

Discovers Concert: Warren & Flick

Warren & Flick creates music that feels both grounded and adventurous—rooted in tradition yet unafraid to explore. With Jacob Warren on double bass and tenor bass, and Grant Flick on violin, tenor guitar, and nyckelharpa, the duo crafts a compelling sound that blends original composition and improvisation with classical, jazz, and folk traditions.

The recital space will open at 2:30 PM; the concert begins at 3:00. There is no reserved seating for this free admission concert. St. Timothy Episcopal church is located at 871 East Boundary, Perrysburg. The facility is accessible and offers ample parking. Discovers is a series dedicated to bringing quality music programs to audiences from throughout Northwest Ohio. Donations are appreciated and patron information available at the concert. All programs are free and open to the public, usually scheduled on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 pm.

Clothesline Open House

Timothy’s Perrysburg Foundation, in partnership with St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, invites the community to an Open House and ribbon cutting on Saturday, October 18 from 12:00- 2:00 pm. After many months of planning and construction, the doors will open to the new home for the Clothesline, the longtime free clothing store initiated by the people of St. Timothy’s. The official ribbon cutting of the new facility will take place at 12:30 pm with the assistance of the Perrysburg Chamber of Commerce and Tim Ansted, Executive Director.

Formerly the rectory (clergy residence), the building has been renovated with generous gifts from individuals.  The house will now expand the Clothesline’s inventory and eventually additional hours of operation. Currently, the free store is open every Friday morning from 9:30-11:00.

The Foundation supports three programs: The Clothesline, Tim’s Kitchen and the Discovers Music series. Operating with the motto, “To Clothe, Feed, and Fulfill”, all three programs will welcome visitors on October 18. The community Open House will offer tours around the St. Timothy’s campus, including the renovated Clothesline and the new Tim’s Kitchen. Created as a “rescue kitchen”, the purpose of Tim’s Kitchen is to rescue fresh foods and create soups, stews and other meals to distribute to partners who serve the food insecure. The free soup continues to be available at the church every Wednesday night at 6:00 pm in the parish hall.

In an interview with Sara Ebright, Executive Director of the Foundation, she shares the following:  "We are so excited to welcome everyone to our new facility and share this space with the community. The new home for The Clothesline, alongside Tim’s Rescue Kitchen and Discovers Concert Series, reflects our commitment to clothing, feeding, and fulfilling lives in Perrysburg and beyond. We’re thrilled to welcome everyone to see what’s possible when people come together to share and serve their neighbors."

In addition to tours of the campus, the Saturday Open House will feature free soup prepared on the premises, cookies, coffee and activities for children including a bounce house. The Discovers Music Series is presenting Chris Brown performing piano selections to entertain.

St. Timothy’s campus is located at 871 East Boundary, with parking around to the rear of the building. For more information, the website is www.timothysperrysburg.org. The church’s phone is 419-874-5704.

Discovers Music Series: Dr. Jim & the Jazz Interns

Timothy’s Perrysburg Foundation is pleased to announce the artists for their Discovers Music Series 2025-26 season. All performances continue to be presented at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, in Perrysburg. The mission of the Foundation is “to clothe, feed and fulfill” and the performances planned for this season will “fulfill” indeed. The 25-26 season features many artists with strong connections to Northwest Ohio, but several are new to our series.

Our season opens Sunday, October 12 with the amazing vocalist “Dr. Jim” Young and the Jazz Interns. Supporting Jim’s vocals, the Jazz Interns include saxophonist Michael Williams, bassist Kevin Eikum, pianist Scott Lavender and Scott Kretzer on drum set.

Dr. Jim Young is the definition of a Renaissance man. Equally at home performing as a soloist, backup singer or bassist, Jim also serves the community as an emergency room physician in his other career. Jim’s unique voice and song styling has been compared to Johnny Mathis. Dr. Young has been a professional musician for over 50 years, the last 20 in the Toledo area. Locally, he has performed at Jazz in the Garden, Lucille’s Jazz Lounge and many other venues. This will be Jim’s first appearance with Discovers.

Conductor, arranger and pianist Scott Lavender, a Findlay native, has just concluded many years touring with the aforementioned Johnny Mathis. Scott, a BGSU alum, has enjoyed am extensive career as a symphonic pops conductor, appearing across the country and in Canada with orchestras including the Detroit, Atlanta and Baltimore Symphonies and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Bassist Kevin Eikum has appeared numerous times in the Discovers series, most recently in May 2025 with Ramona Collins. Kevin performs frequently in the area, particularly with Sixth Edition and as the bassist in the Toledo Jazz Orchestra. Mike Williams, saxophonist and Scott Kretzer, drums, complete the ensemble accompanying Dr. Young. Both have extensive performing experience in Northwest Ohio with numerous groups. Kretzer also is a recognized music educator, serving on the faculties of Heidelberg University and Adrian College..

For the October 12 event, the recital space will open at 2:30 PM; the concert begins at 3:00. There is no reserved seating for this free admission concert. St. Timothy Episcopal church is located at 871 East Boundary, Perrysburg. The facility is accessible and offers ample parking.
