Mudhens Faith & Family Night

Mudhens Faith & Family Night

The Faith and Family Night at Fifth Third Field will be Sunday, June 29th! This event will consist of Mud Hens athletes and other keynote speakers discussing how faith and family helped them achieve their goals. After that Q and A panel, we will have a Mud Hens baseball game following!

The pregame event will take place at roughly 2 PM, and the baseball game will follow at 4:05 PM. Our group ticket rate for this gameday is $13 per ticket, which grants entry to both the panel and the Mud Hens game! We would start with getting a group of tickets on reserve, and I would need the final headcount and payment at least 2 weeks before the gameday, but any sooner would be great!

Please see the bulletin board or reach out to the office to reserve your space. For any questions or to pay for your ticket, please reach out to Adreana at adreanakrukowski@gmail.com.

Fellowship Outing: July 4th Concert

Celebrate Fourth of July with your friends from St. Tim's
Independence Day Concert at Spiegel Grove - July 4

The Independence Day concert at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museum (Spiegel Grove) in Fremont provides a great opportunity for fun and fellowship. The concert, which is from 2:00 – 3:30 on Friday the 4th, features the Toledo Symphony Concert Band performing on the veranda of President Hayes’ home. A highlight of the concert is the performance of the 1812 Overture accompanied by cannon fire provided by a Civil War reenactment group.

Admission to the concert is free. Come early with a blanket or chairs for seating on the lawn (allow enough time to park and get to the lawn), and bring a picnic if you so choose.

There will be space saved for St. Tim’s, so please sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board so we know how much space to save. If you will not be at St. Tim’s, please contact Susan Winters at 412-780-1048 or grwii@roadrunner.com to reserve space. (Note that we will only be able to save it for so long before we have to give it up.)

Food trucks will be on-site for lunch and snacks. Parking is on the grounds (if you’re early enough), on nearby streets, and at Pro Medica Memorial Hospital lots at Buildings A and B at 605 Third Ave.

The Hayes home and museum will be available for touring from 9 AM to 5 PM, but there is an admission fee for either or both of those.

If you have any questions, please contact Susan Winters.

Discovers Music Series: Ramona Collins & Friends

Discovers Music Series Presents Ramona Collins & Friends

The incomparable vocalist Ramona Collins is the headliner for the fourth Discovers Music Series concert of the 2024-25 season. Backed by a quartet of outstanding instrumentalists, this will be Ms. Collins first appearance in the series. Scheduled for Sunday, May 4 at 3:00 pm, this free admission concert is sponsored by Timothy’s Perrysburg Foundation and hosted by St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. This marks the second season that Discovers has been an integral part of the new Timothy’s Perrysburg Foundation, which supports three initiatives: Discovers Music Series; The Clothesline, a free clothing opportunity; and the new St. Tim’s Kitchen, which supports food insecurity by repurposing rescued food.

Ramona Collins has thrilled Toledo area audiences for many years, including her long tenure at the former Rusty’s Jazz Café on Tedrow and Murphy’s Place downtown. More recently, she has been heard at Lucille’s at Tolhouse and often at Jazz in the Garden at the Toledo Botanical Gardens. Ms. Collins career has embraced a number of musical genres; however, she may be best known for her authentic and expressive interpretations of jazz standards. The Blade’s Tom Henry (2021) has written that Ramona is “the hardest working singer in Toledo.”

Ms. Collins will be accompanied by some of the best jazz musicians in this area, including those with whom she has recorded. The quartet includes saxophonist Mark Lemle, pianist Eric Dickey, Kevin Eikum, bass and Brad Billmaier, drum set. During her tenure at Rusty’s Ms. Collins recorded her first album entitled Everything Old is New….Again - Live at Rusty’s Jazz Cafe. Mark Lemle, Kevin Eikum and Eric Dickey are also on that recording.

Mark Lemle, owner of Lemle’s Piano Service and prolific performer on woodwinds, has performed previously in the Discovers series. He has played lead alto with the Toledo Jazz Orchestra throughout most of its history, and has appeared with the Toledo Symphony. Eric Dickey, piano, known as both a jazz and liturgical musician, is currently the music director at Community of Christ Lutheran Church in Whitehouse. Kevin Eikum, bass, has performed for 20 years with the Toledo Jazz Orchestra. Also a fine vocalist, Kevin performs with Sixth Edition. Brad Billmaier, drum set, is also making his first appearance in the Discovers series. Brad is a composer and educator as well as a performer.

For the May 4 event, the recital space will open at 2:30 PM; the concert begins at 3:00. There is no reserved seating for this free admission concert. St. Timothy Episcopal church is located at 871 East Boundary, Perrysburg. The facility is accessible and offers ample parking.   Discovers is a series dedicated to bringing quality music programs to audiences from throughout Northwest Ohio. Donations are appreciated and patron information available at the concert. All programs are free and open to the public, scheduled on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 pm.  Information on upcoming events in the series is available at www.timothysperrysburg.org.

Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Egg Hunt

The Sunday School will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Easter, April 20th, in the courtyard after the 10 AM service. If it’s rainy or muddy, we’ll move the hunt indoors to the Parish Hall. The hunt is for preschoolers through 6thgraders, including out-of-town guests, newcomers, and visitors.

If you’d like to participate, please:

  1. RSVP either on the bulletin board outside the kitchen or by e-mailing or phoning Susan Winters (grwii@roadrunner.com, 412-780-1048). We’ll accommodate walk-ins, but it helps to know about how many to expect.

  2. During Sunday School egg hunters will be able to decorate a bag to collect eggs.

  3. Wear clothes that you’d like to be photographed in. We’ll have not only “egg hunting” shots, but also shots of family groups. We’ll e-mail photos after Easter, so be sure we have your email address.

We’d like to have students from 7thgrade through high school help with the hunt. We’ll need help around 9:15 with hiding eggs, and during the hunt they can help the youngest children with their hunting. We’ll have a bag of candy as a thank you for any older student who helps.

Compline Service

Compline Service

St. Tim’s offers candlelit, chanted Compline services on the second Tuesday of the month at 8pm, September–April.

The term “Compline” derives from the Latin completorium—completion of the working day. As the bedtime prayers of the church, Compline tends to be a contemplative experience that emphasizes quietness, reflection, and spiritual peace. In many convents and monasteries, it is customary to begin the “Great Silence” after Compline, during which the whole community, including guests, observes silence throughout the night until the morning service the next day. Our offering of Compline seeks to keep this contemplative spirit.

Our service follows the Order for Compline laid out in the Book of Common Prayer and is chanted by a small schola of singers. We begin and end with silence. The entire service lasts approximately 30 minutes. Congregants are welcome to join in the chanting as noted in the service bulletin or to worship in meditative silence.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Join us for this church tradition! The pancake supper will begin at 6:00 pm in the parish hall. All are welcome and food and drinks will be provided. There will also be crafts for the kids.

Why do we eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday?

It was traditional in many societies to make foods with butter, eggs and fat that would need to be used up before the beginning of Lent. Another delicious example of this is pączki. The specific custom of Anglican Christians eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday dates all the way back to the 16th century, when the church bells would ring at noon, signaling to folks that it was time to fry up their pancakes. The tradition of racing with pancakes is said to come from running to church after cooking the last cake. In the UK Shrove Tuesday is known as Pancake Tuesday!

March Madness - Saints Edition Kick Off

We will be playing March (Lent) Madness - The Saints Edition, starting Sunday, March 2.

Outside of the Parish Hall you will see our brackets on 2 large bulletin boards.
There are 64 saints listed with a very brief description, matched up against each other.

Vote for your favorite of the 2 by placing a tally mark next to them. Vote for as many different match-ups as you would like.

The next week we will take the top 32 to move on to the next round and pair them up with another winning saint. This will go all the way through Easter.

Whichever saint comes out on top we will celebrate with a coffee hour themed after them and will celebrate their next feast day.

Have fun!
