Encounter His Birth and Experience the World in New Ways

From December 25 until January 5th, we celebrate the birth of Jesus.  As we adore the Christ child and sing hymns of praise, I hope we can avoid the trap of seeing it as just a simple cute story.  My hope is that we encounter his birth in a way that changes how we experience the world.  I hope we are transformed in a way that can only happen by the almighty God arriving in our messy and violent world as a helpless baby. Because wrapped up in his birth are these plain truths,
 
            Goodness is stronger than Evil                
            Love is stronger than hate                        
            Light is stronger than darkness                
            Vulnerability surpasses defensiveness  
            Peace is stronger than war                                
            Reconciliation surpasses revenge           
            And generous hospitality disarms enmity
 
May we all experience the world in new ways because Christ was born on Christmas Day.
