Holy Week is a Journey

Are we there yet?
Are we there yet?

My kids, often want to arrive at the destination more than they want to enjoy the journey to the destination. Honestly, I often feel that way too.  But when I stop and reflect on my life, I realize that the journey always had a greater impact than arriving at the destination.  The journey is where loud music and laughter solidified friendships.  It was where I learned that being lost isn’t all that bad and can sometimes be a great blessing.  The journey, if we pay attention to it, is where deep life really happens.

Holy Week is a journey.  I know sometimes we just want to fast forward to Easter, but when we do we end up missing the gifts that can only come along the way.  During Holy Week we journey with Christ to the depths of his love.  We learn that he served and loved even when it was uncomfortable and painful. We also learn that even on the darkest moments of Good Friday that there is still hope.  If we never enter the sadness of Holy week, we will never fully understand the power of Resurrection.

We all experience wonderfully great times, and horrible depressing times throughout our lives.  It has always been in the midst of my worst days that I am grateful for the whole story that goes through Holy Week to Easter.

I invite you to journey towards Easter with your St. Tim’s family this Holy Week.
