Hosanna

On Palm Sunday we join our voices with the church throughout space and time singing “Hosanna in the highest.”  Hosanna means, “Save us, please.” When it was used on that original Palm Sunday as Jesus rode a donkey through town, it was said as a mantra of hope.  The people were not begging for salvation, but rather celebrating that Jesus is the one who can save.

As we come near to Palm Sunday take a moment to reflect on all the things that that cause worry. Remember all the head spinning problems, disasters, and brokenness that come with humanity.  As your worry grows turn your attention to God.  God loves this world and shows up for us in the midst of it all.  It is because of God’s promise to be with us no matter how bad things get that we can cry out with “Hosana” with a hopeful celebration.

May the love and faithfulness of God be your comfort today and always.
